A running list of the local eateries that will reopen their dining rooms at 25 percent capacity this week
On May 1, restaurants across Houston (and Texas) will be able to open their dining rooms after weeks of being closed. Governor Greg Abbott’s latest executive order requires these restaurants to reduce their dining room’s capacity to just 25 percent of what is normally allowed, but plenty of local favorites are planning to reopen as soon as possible.
As such, Eater will keep a running list of restaurants that plan to reopen in the coming days. Stay tuned for more updates, and be sure to send your intel on spots that are making a comeback to houston@eater.com.
Restaurants Reopening May 1
- State Fare — Will open with a limited menu for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch service. Reservations are recommended, and State Fare will now accept Venmo for contactless payments. The restaurant will open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Cleburne Cafeteria — Will open its dining room at 25 percent capacity on Friday, May 1. Takeout options will still be available.
- Turkey Leg Hut — Will reopen on Friday, May 11 at 11 a.m. Reservations are required, and party size will be limited to 10 diners or less. Takeout orders will continue.
- Jimmy Changa’s — Will open on May 1, signing up for the “waitlist” is required.
- Federal American Grill — Opened last weekend in defiance of Harris County’s “stay at home” order.
- Collina’s (Memorial) — Opened on April 25 in defiance of Harris County’s “stay at home” order.
